Welcome to Doodlebug and Daisy Quilts! I’m Cori, quilter and fiber artist. My husband and I have six kids together ranging from 21 to 7. Its a full house and there is always something going on. I also enjoy working in my garden, baking (especially bread) and reading a good book.
My mom taught me to sew when I was a kid. She made all our Halloween costumes and a new outfit every summer, matching with my sisters. I made clothes for my dolls. When Gillian the Cabbage Patch Kid was properly dressed, I took a nice long hiatus from sewing. I went to college and got an art degree in sculpture.
It wasn’t until I had my first baby that I decided to get back into sewing. My mother in law gave me a machine to use. Fueled by Pinterest, I made pillowcase dresses and a ton of bows. It became a perfect outlet for me to be creative, usually during naptime or in the evening. Then I decided I should make my sister a quilt for her wedding. How hard could it be? My grandmother was a master quilter. I have always wished I had learned from her and then I would have know exactly how hard it would be!! She made beautiful quilts all by hand. I got one for my birthday one year and I did not know the amount of work it took, or appreciate it fully at the time. Now it is a cherished heirloom.

I continued quilting for years, making quilts for my kids and each niece and nephew that came along. I have come to think of each quilt as a work of art also. I love the texture the stitching creates. I love using little scraps and pieces that couldn’t be anything else. And I love the endless possibilities and freedom in quilting, like painting with fabric. Sometimes I paint on my quilts too!
I love sharing my quilts with people, I love sharing my love of quilting with people. That’s why I started this site. I’ll share my projects, some tips and tricks, and hopefully some inspiration. Thanks for being here!
